Experience the Thrill of Tanzania’s Wildlife with Havillah Tours & Safaris
Feel the excitement of the wild as you embark on...
Experience a thrilling 4-day safari through Ngorongoro Crater, Serengeti National Park, and Tarangire National Park, witnessing the iconic wildlife and breathtaking landscapes of Tanzania.
This four-day safari will take you to Ngorongoro Crater, the famous Serengeti National Park, and Tarangire, the place for elephants. The highlight of this short Tanzania safari is the Great Serengeti Wildebeest Migration, the big cats, and the Big Five. The tour will include visiting one of the Masai villages at Ngorongoro Highlands.
On this day, our safari manager will meet you at your Hotel or lodge in Arusha for a detailed safari briefing. Please let us know if you need the package price to include your transfers and accommodation in Arusha before and after the safari.
Tarangire River runs from north to south of Park Park, and a swamp on the south corner is the permanent water source in Park Park, saved as a refugee camp for many animals during the dry season. Another major highlight of this Park is the large population of elephants and the three rare species of Great Kudu, Fringed Eared Oryx, and Ash Stalling. You may also expect to spot herds of buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, warthog, hippos, giraffes, and a large number of baboons and monkeys.
The Park is home to predators such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, and backpacked hyenas. For bird watchers, this is paradise, as over 400 bird species were recorded here, including ostriches, herons, secretary birds, and other migratory birds. In the late afternoon, drive to the lodge via the Great East African Rift Valley for a sunset watch.
On the way, you will visit a Masai village for a cultural encounter. A group of Masai warriors will invite you and take you in and around their houses, telling you stories of their livelihood around this area. You will meet kids and other family members, where you can ask questions and take pictures with them. Lastly, they will sing and dance to their famous song, which involves jumping high. You may join the dancing.
Afterward, drive to the wild, rich “Serengeti National Park” with its endless rolling plains; reach Naabi Hills gate for registration; you can have your packed lunch here or further ahead at Kopjes (rocky outcropping) before starting your afternoon game drive into the vast Serengeti plain searching for big cats & the Great Wildebeest Migration (depending on travel dates). Late afternoon, before or during sunset, drive to your camp for dinner & overnight.
On this day, as early as 06:30 hours, start with breakfast box and lunch box for an early morning game drive in the vast Serengeti plains with the possibility of spotting cat family on the road as they usually spend their morning time on the road, avoiding the morning mist. You may also see other nocturnal predators returning from their long night of hunting or a group of lionesses organizing a morning ambush.
Break for breakfast in the bush. After breakfast, drive to where the Wildebeest Migration is packed and spend much time with the herds. (This will depend on your traveling dates and whether they will be in Central Serengeti.) With or without the Migration of herds, Serengeti is still the best place to visit just as much as always. Later in the afternoon, start your way to Ngorongoro Conservation Area with an en-route game drive.
As early as 6:30 a.m., descend 600 meters into the crater floor for wonderful game viewing. Ngorongoro Crater is referred to by many as the 8th natural wonder of the world. Supported by yearly water supplies and fodders, the Crater supports a larger number of animal species, including herds of wildebeest, buffalo, zebra, eland, topi, warthog, hippos, African elephant, and the rare species of black rhino.
Another big drawcard to this picturesque Crater is its dense population of predators, including lions, cheetahs, hyenas, jackals, and the ever-mysterious leopard, which sometimes needs binocular eyes to spot. You will visit Lake Magadi, a more extensive but shallow alkaline Lake on the Southwest corner of the Crater, frequently accommodates hippos & some flocks of flamingos and other aquatic birds. Luckily, the ‘Big Five’ can be seen in just one day of game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater (picnic lunch will be served on the crater floor).
In the afternoon, drive out and return to Arusha. If you are flying the same day, we will drop you at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) to catch your flight back home (a late flight on KLM can be the best option, as it leaves JRO at 21:30 hours). If you are staying in Arusha, accommodation can be arranged upon request at an extra cost.
